Knowing your Sports Tapes for Injuries
Here at sportstapewholesalers we
sell the tape for every sport. However, you have to know which athletic tape is
suitable for what job? We have put together this helpful guide to highlight the
different types of tape that we sell through our website and how each one could
be utilized to help you.
Kinesiology Tape
This is known as Kinesio tape
comes in bright colored strips of tape often seen worn by top athletes. When
applied correctly, it lifts the skin to create a small space between the muscle
and dermis layers. That space takes off the pressure of swelled or injured
muscles. Unlike another strapping tape,
it has elastic that contours and stretches with the skin making it an ideal
solution for many athletes. Kinesio tape has some unique qualities that include
60% stretch and the wave pattern of the adhesive.
Elastic Adhesive Bandage
It’s a cotton tape that has a
limited amount of flex along its length. EAB is an ideal solution to use on
injuries that have almost recovered however it offers lightweight support and
compression to prevent swelling whilst the tissues rebuild strength. EAB is mostly used a headband to pin the ears
back or around the thighs.
Sock Tape
Sock tapes are available at sports wholesale tape
stores that support shin guards for footballers. This PVC sock tape is easy to
apply and offers a little stretch to ensure that the tape does not cause
discomfort or restricted blood circulation. It comes in a range of colors in
accordance with FIFA rules.
Cohesive Bandage
A self-adhering bandage that
sticks to itself rather than the injured person's skin. It is the best solution
for those with allergies to the ingredients found within the adhesive of other
tape or particularly for the body parts with hairs. You can use it in a similar
way to under wrap, but providing more compression than an under wrap would.
Zinc Oxide Tape
This is a purely rigid cotton
sports tape, with a strong zinc oxide-based adhesive. It is highly used by
physiotherapists and athletes to strap up joints where a degree of rigidity is
required to immobilize joints. In simple terms, Zinc Oxide athletic tape
can be used to completely immobilize the ankle joint or only allow movement of
the foot in an up and down motion.
Tear Lit EAB
This is much lighter weight than
traditional EAB, it can be torn by hand making it easier and quicker for
sportspersons to apply on pitchside. A must-have for any athlete kit bag!
Crepe Bandage
This cotton bandage is very
popular and commonly used a compression dressing because it conforms so well to
the body. This is a slight stretch bandage used to apply pressure and padding
to bleeding wounds.
